DNS performance
Measured by someone else, every minute
PerfOps benchmarks eight DNS providers with real-user monitoring. Below is the last hour exactly as they measured it, including the minutes when another provider is a millisecond ahead.

Why it's fast
Answered from memory, a few milliseconds from the asker
Speed in DNS comes from two things: how close the answering server is, and how little it does before replying. Edge keeps both small.
- Anycast from 50+ locations, so most users are within 10ms of one
- Zones compiled into in-memory structures: no disk, no database on the query path
- A Rust core with zero-copy parsing and predictable latency under load
Methodology
We don't mark our own homework
PerfOps is an independent monitoring company that benchmarks DNS, CDN and cloud providers. Their data comes from real browsers, not synthetic probes in data centres.
- Real-user monitoring (RUM) from actual browsers
- Median per minute, so single outliers don't skew the line
- Eight providers measured under identical conditions
- Filtered by country; this board shows the United Kingdom
Put your zones on the network in this chart
Every zone gets the same anycast network the benchmark measures. Up to 50 zones and a million queries per zone each month, at no cost.
