Edge Assist: AI answers for any website
Edge Assist answers your visitors' questions from your own content and nothing else. Point it at a content index, add one script tag, and visitors get streamed, cited answers plus instant search under a single ⌘K overlay. Sitekeys are origin-enforced, repeat questions are served from cache for free, and the free tier includes 250 answered questions per site per month, with published overage pricing after that.
- One-line embed adds instant search and a chat assistant to any site, app, wiki or intranet
- Answers are grounded in your own indexed content and streamed with citations, so it never invents features or pricing
- Overrides: pin authoritative facts and curate exact Q&A answers that always take precedence
- Assist Examiner: AI review of your content coverage: unanswered themes, dead pages and suggested fixes
- Human handoff turns any conversation into a support ticket with the transcript attached
- Agent-ready: AI agents can provision, index and monitor Assist sites through the Agent API
Password-protected CDN domains
Ship a dev build to a Storage bucket, put it on a test domain and share the URL without sharing it with the whole internet. Visitors get the browser's native credential prompt before anything is served, including cached content. Verified credentials are cached at the edge so authenticated traffic runs at full CDN speed, while failed attempts are rate-limited by bcrypt's hash cost.
- Protect any CDN domain with a username and password (HTTP Basic Auth)
- Enforced at the edge, ahead of the cache, so protected content is never served without credentials
- Passwords stored as bcrypt hashes; edge nodes never see plaintext
- SSL issuance and renewal keep working on protected domains
- One click from the Domains tab: lock icon → set credentials → save
Self-serve CDN and Storage overage
CDN and Storage free tiers no longer end at “talk to us”. Set a monthly usage budget on the billing page and keep serving past 500k requests and 5 GB at published pay-as-you-go rates, billed from the same prepaid balance as compute. No budget set means nothing changes: hard caps stay on, and exceeding a free tier still pauses the resource rather than charging you.
- Published overage rates: $0.25 per million CDN requests, $0.015/GB-month for storage
- Opt in with a monthly usage budget from the billing page. Free tiers stay hard-capped by default
- Overage bills hourly from your prepaid balance with itemised ledger entries
- When the budget is spent, free-tier limits re-apply automatically until next month
- Warnings at 80% and 100% of budget, so a surprise bill stays structurally impossible
Cost Advisor
Cost Advisor reviews everything you run on Edge and tells you where you're overpaying, for example “this VM averages 3% CPU, downsize and save $40/month”. Every figure is computed from your actual usage and our published rates. It recommends more capacity only where the data shows real pressure, and if your account is already efficient, it says so. Free to run as often as you like, from Billing → Cost Advisor.
- AI analysis of account-wide usage and spend across VMs, storage, CDN, DNS and add-ons
- VM right-sizing from 7 days of CPU, memory and disk metrics, with per-VM utilisation charts
- Prioritised recommendations with real dollar amounts: savings, upgrades and protection gaps
- Spend breakdown and efficiency score (0–100) on a new Cost Advisor tab under Billing
- Honest by design: it flags waste, and tells you when you're under-provisioned too

REST API documentation
The full REST API, the same one that powers the console and CLI, is now documented end to end: every endpoint, request field and response shape, plus authentication, errors and rate limits.
- Complete REST API reference at /docs/api covering Compute, CDN, DNS, Storage and Shield
- Authentication guide: API keys with optional expiry, managed via console or API
- Error and rate-limit reference with stable machine-readable codes
- Indexed in llms.txt so AI coding agents can navigate the API without guesswork
Startup scripts in the CLI and Agent API
Startup scripts are no longer console-only. The full script library, Edge-maintained and custom, is now available from the CLI and the Agent API, with parameter substitution handled for you.
- New edge compute scripts commands: list, get, create, update and delete scripts from the terminal
- Provision VMs with --script and --script-param flags on edge compute create
- Agent API: reference scripts by ID with parameters on VM creation and app deploys
- New GET /agent/compute/scripts endpoint so agents can discover the script library
Shield: built for sceptical engineers
A set of Shield features aimed at the details engineers check before trusting a verification product: trial it without blocking anything, test it deterministically in CI, and verify tokens entirely inside your own stack.
- Shadow mode: score live traffic in report-only mode before switching enforcement on
- Test sitekeys for CI: deterministic always-pass, always-fail and always-escalate keys
- Offline verification: Ed25519-signed tokens with a public JWKS endpoint, so you can verify with zero network calls
- Automatic signing-key rotation every 60 days, with a 24-hour overlap for uninterrupted verification
- The tarpit: repeat offenders face exponentially harder proof-of-work
- Bot weather report: live view of global bot traffic conditions
Edge Shield: free bot protection
Edge Shield is a CAPTCHA alternative that stops bots, spam and fake signups without ever showing a real user a traffic light. Privacy-first by design: raw input never leaves the visitor's device, and Shield keeps no profile of anyone.
- Humanity score (1–100) computed from behavioural signals. Humans never see a puzzle
- Managed, non-interactive and invisible widget modes with a two-line embed
- Server-side validation compatible with the Turnstile/reCAPTCHA siteverify flow for drop-in migration
- Verified agents: cryptographically identify good bots and decide how to route them
- Shield Examiner: AI analysis of your widget configuration and traffic
- Free forever with unlimited verifications and no card required

DNS Examiner
DNS Examiner analyses your zone configuration, performs live DNS lookups, then uses AI to find misconfigurations across email (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), security (CAA), nameserver delegation, web accessibility and best practice. Every issue comes with a specific recommendation.
- AI zone analysis checks email deliverability, security, nameservers and best practice
- Live DNS lookups compared against configured records to catch propagation issues
- Health score (0–100) with issues ranked by severity and specific fixes
- Results are saved: return to the Examiner tab to see your last analysis
- Available in the console, the CLI (edge dns examine) and the Agent API
Startup scripts for Compute
Automate VM setup with startup scripts. Choose from a curated library or write your own with configurable parameters. Scripts run on first boot, and you can follow progress and output from the console.
- Pre-built script library: Docker, Node.js, LAMP, LEMP, WordPress, PostgreSQL, Redis, Python, Hardened SSH
- Custom scripts with parameterised inputs for reusable provisioning
- Scripts run automatically on first boot with real-time execution tracking
- Script status and output visible on the VM detail page
