Shield Examiner
An analyst for your bot traffic
Charts tell you what happened. The Examiner tells you what it means. One click turns 30 days of widget metrics into a plain-English review: what's healthy, what's under attack, what to tune, and exactly how.
Free on every widget. Runs in a few seconds.
What it reviews
Six questions, answered for your traffic
Every finding comes with a severity, an explanation in terms of your site, and a specific fix.
Traffic health
Challenge volumes, solve rates and verification patterns, explained in terms of what they mean for your site rather than as raw numbers.Bot pressure
How much automation is hitting the widget, whether it's declared (verified agents) or anonymous, and whether it's rising.Escalation calibration
Whether your click-to-confirm rate points to real attacks or to an over-challenged audience on VPNs and privacy browsers.Abuse signals
Token replays, verification failures, score collapses and drift: the traces real attacks leave in aggregate data.Configuration fit
Whether mode, agent policy and hostname allowlist match the traffic you actually get, plus recommended score thresholds.A health score
Every review ends in a 0–100 score with prioritised findings, so you can see at a glance whether anything needs attention.
The report
A score, the findings behind it, and what to change
Each review opens with a 0–100 health score, then lists findings in the order you should deal with them. Every finding says what it means for your site and which setting or siteverify threshold to change.
- Findings ranked by how much they affect protection
- Fixes written as specific settings, not advice
- Your last ten reviews are kept, so you can see progress
How it works
Three steps, a few seconds
No setup and no configuration. If your widget has traffic, the Examiner has opinions.
- 01
Open the Examiner tab
Every Shield widget has one in the console. It's also available from the API and CLI. - 02
Run a review
The analysis covers the last 30 days of hourly aggregates and your widget's configuration. - 03
Apply the fixes
Change a setting, or adjust thresholds in your siteverify handling. Your last ten reviews are kept for comparison.
Reading the health score
A single number for the whole review. The findings underneath tell you why, in order of what to fix first.
| Score | Rating | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 80–100 | Good health | Traffic looks normal. Minor tuning may be suggested. |
| 50–79 | Needs attention | Calibration or bot-pressure warnings worth acting on. |
| 0–49 | Issues found | Active abuse signals or configuration problems affecting protection. |
Aggregates only, by architecture
Your visitors are never part of the analysis
The Examiner reads hourly counters (challenge volumes, solve rates, score averages, abuse counts) and your widget's configuration. Nothing else exists to read. Shield holds no per-visitor data, so none can be reviewed or shared. That isn't a policy; it's how the system is built.
- Hourly aggregate counters
- Widget mode, agent policy and hostname allowlist
- No IP addresses, fingerprints or browsing history
FAQ
About the Examiner
Does it cost anything?
No. Like the rest of Shield, the Examiner is free. Run reviews as often as you like on every widget.
How much traffic does it need?
Any. Reviews cover the last 30 days, so a widget with a few days of real traffic already gives it something to say. The more traffic, the more specific the findings.
Will it change my settings for me?
No. It recommends; you decide. Findings point to the exact setting or siteverify threshold to change.
Is my visitors' data sent to an AI model?
There is no visitor data to send. The model sees the same hourly aggregates your analytics dashboard shows, plus your widget configuration.
