How Sacred Network connects a global community
Sacred Network is a platform for exploring the world's sacred places (stone circles, temples, energy nodes and natural sites). It brings together a community of thousands with curated site guides, audio guides, events, and local groups.
The challenge#
A global community platform is demanding for a small team: interactive maps of sacred sites across dozens of countries, media-rich site and audio guides, and members on every continent expecting the site to feel local. And for a project centred on care for the living planet, running it all on energy-hungry centralised data centres would have sat uneasily with the mission.
The solution#
Sacred Network runs on Edge’s decentralised infrastructure, with hosting, global content delivery and DNS on one platform. Guides, imagery, and audio are delivered from the edge location nearest each member, and the distributed architecture is up to 50% greener than the traditional cloud, keeping the infrastructure true to the community’s values.
Edge gives us infrastructure that reflects what Sacred Network stands for: distributed, conscious, and close to our community wherever they are in the world.
